The Oprah™ Principle And How You Can Use This To Get More Clients!

Oprah Winfrey: an American icon, a role model, and a businesswoman. We can certainly learn a lot from Oprah—so much, in fact, that we could fit it all into a book! For today, let’s focus on her personal brand and learn how we can apply it to the art of selling

I call it the Oprah™ Principle. Because Oprah is well respected, people are more likely to buy the products or services that she recommends. That doesn’t mean every person on the planet will buy every single thing she recommends, but it does mean that her endorsement means a lot because of her reputation. To put it simply, she has established herself as an expert and a trusted source

You can establish yourself as an expert in your niche, and eventually, your credibility will award you with more clients. Here are five quick and easy steps on how to apply the Oprah™ Principle to your sales strategy

  1. Establish who you are

How are you supposed to explain who you are to others if you don’t even know who you are? Decide your short-term and long-term goals and stick to them. Pinpoint the intersection of your work and your passion, and fit it into the story of who you are.

2. Outline your “why”

There’s a lot of talk about your “why,” and there’s a reason for it. Your “why” is your reason for doing something—it’s your passion, and it’s what inspires you to work hard. Do you think Oprah has reached such success without a sense of purpose? Make your “why” clear to yourself and everyone you talk to, especially in professional environments.

3. Understand what you need to do

You can’t establish who you are overnight. It takes time to build a reputation, and it takes more time to gain credibility. Figure out what you need to do in order to live up to who you are and what you want to accomplish. Then, go do it!

4. Connect with others

Now that you’ve begun to get a sense of how you want to establish yourself to execute the Oprah™ Principle, it’s time to connect with people. Not all of these people will be prospective clients, but they are people, nonetheless. Put yourself out there!

5. Tell the world about it

It’s time to put the Oprah™ Principle to the test. You’ve taken time to establish yourself and gain a sense of trust from your following, and now it’s time to tell the world about your products and services.

You get a sale! And you get a sale!

Okay, we won’t go that far. But there’s something to be said about the Oprah™ Principle and how it could impact your business. It starts with baby steps, and sometimes the process seems like it’s endless, but there’s one thing you should keep in mind. Everyone has to start somewhere, even Oprah. Day by day, you’ll get there. And one day, you can come up with your own name for your principle.
